All who are of Scottish descent, or who are interested in Scottish culture are encouraged to join the Canton-Akron Scottish Heritage Association (CASHA), as we celebrate our heritage.

Where and when we meet

We meet the second Tuesday of each month, 7:30 p.m. at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 5155 Eastlake Street, North Canton, Ohio (Across Frank Road from Stark State Technical College). Attendance is open to those interested and you are invited to attend our meetings.

Our Objectives

CASHA's objectives are to stimulate and cultivate an interest in the Scottish Heritage of the people in this area, especially regarding their cultural and historical backgrounds.

We will sponsor, encourage, and publicize Scottish events and activities, including the funding of educational endeavors. CASHA also strives to provide an opportunity for learning and participation in Scottish arts, poetry, music and other aspects of Scottish culture. We have helped sponsor the Tigh Na Creige Highland Dancers.

Events and Programs

CASHA participates in events such as Celtic and International festivals and the Ohio Scottish Games. We sponsor Scottish cultural events such as the annual Burns Night Dinner, kirkin' of the tartans, Tartan Day Dinner and Celebrations.

CASHA also offers programs focusing on different aspects of our heritage including bagpiping, Scottish gælic, tartans and weaving, clan histories, family genealogy and research, historical re-enactment groups, highland dancing and Scottish country dancing.
